Court Animation- is this the next step for Online Journalism?
Over the last number of days, I have been religiously following the trial of the three English men on trial for the largest cocaine seizure in Irish history. Today, whilst surfing, I decided to check the Irish Independent website to find out what sentences had been bestowed on the three men, all in their 40s. That is when I noticed that the picture that accompanied the rather short article was in fact a court drawing.
The sketch in question was given to the Irish Independent, ‘courtesy of RTE News‘. In my opinion, this move by the Irish Independent is both brave and inspiring. By co-operating with RTE News, the online segment of the Irish Independent are in fact paving the way for their professional peers, thus encouraging integration between newspapers, tv news broadcasters and online journalists.
