Askoxford.com- the ‘Definition’ of a Good Site!

Posted on April 1, 2008. Filed under: Newsy |

Oxford University Press Logo! With the semester nearing its end and the assignments beginning to mount up, I decided to explore websites that can make the life of the student a little easier. During my travels, I stumbled across askoxford, an extremely useful website for completing assignments to a very high standard.

With the tag-line, “passionate about language” this website is just that. With its very simplistic layout, it provides users with everything they could possibly need to know about the English language, including an up-to-date English dictionary, a quotations dictionary, a section devoted to presenting language queries to English language experts and an extensive UK book catalogue.

In addition to this, a “word of the day”, complete with definition and a “quote of the day” appear on the home page of the website. This allows readers to expand their vocabulary and their overall knowledge. Finally, the page contains a navigation bar with a link to Oxford University Press, which is definitely a worthwhile link to follow when you have a spare minute.

All in all, I found this site to be a real asset to students and lecturers alike and well worth a visit in the coming weeks.
